About Dr. Jiqiu (JQ) Yuan

Dr. Jiqiu (JQ) Yuan, P.E., PMP, is a professional engineer with more than 25 years of research and development experience. He specializes in making infrastructure and communities resilient against natural disasters. Dr. Yuan actively is involved in the development of guidelines, codes, standards, policies, and applied research programs in a variety of building science fields. As the Chief Resilience Officer with the National Institute of Building Sciences, he leads initiatives that support interdisciplinary and inter-organizational collaboration, promotes innovative solutions in the built environment, and provides strategic leadership in emerging areas. Formerly, Dr. Yuan was a researcher with the Federal Highway Administration Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center. He also served as an adjunct professor at George Mason University and George Washington University.
